A friendly tournament for primary school age girls who have not played in a Chess tournament before, or who do not have a Chess Scotland grade or other national or international rating.

Clocks will be used, and each player will have 15 minutes to make all their moves.
Arrival: From 12:30 (please do not arrive earlier)
1pm Welcome and clock demonstration, followed by 1st round
There will be approximately a 5 minute gap between the last game of a round finishing and the next round starting.
Approximate round times will be:

2:20 Round 3
2:55 Round 4
3.30 Round 5
4pm Prizegiving
Event Organiser: Jenny Wilson who is a qualified national arbiter. She has been playing a big part in schools’ chess until recently and works in diversity in the chess scene, including, but not exclusively, girls and women’s chess. She is on the Women’s Focus Group of Chess Scotland, our national body.
She Plays To Win (SPTW) is a charitable project whose aim is to encourage more girls to learn, play and benefit from chess. They provide a supportive community for girls and young women and their programme includes weekly online training during term-time and opportunities to enter tournaments online and over the board. Please note that entrant's details will be shared with She Plays to Win (SPTW). SPTW is promoting grassroots chess across the UK, starter girls tournaments, offering the chance for girls who little or no experience to chess tournament play, which are taking place across the UK.
